from la Bintinais farm Eco-museum (cf. Article "La Bintinais), the city
of Rennes comprises two other museums rich and quite significant. We
name the museum of Brittany and the museum of fine Arts. |
 the museums of Rennes - "Vase de fleurs à la fenêtre" Gauguin
in Rennes along the quays of la Vilaine, close to the historical
centre, the Museum of Brittany is installed at the ground floor of a
19th century building with the Museum of fine Arts occupying the first
floor. Built between 1849 and 1856, the building of neo-classic style
was called "university Palace". It sheltered the universities of Rennes
and the museums of fine Arts, Archaeology and Natural History.
Initially, the museum of fine Arts of Rennes covers the whole of |
the
principal periods of Art’s history. The main name to be retained is
Christophe Paul de Robien whose collection constitutes a great source
for the museum. To see, one of the centre pieces of the museum: "Le
nouveau né" from Georges de La Tour. Otherwise, the museum of Brittany
gathers, preserves and introduces to the public the material witnesses
of the history of Brittany. Its quality of society museum gives it the
vocation of leading reflection on various questions such as
archaeology, history and sciences in general. |
