Quay Portrieux being the only deep water port between Cherbourg and
Brest, in addition to the abundance of the Saint Jacques shells, the
port is the principal activity of the city. As well for fishing,
pleasure and available maritime connections. |
 Saint Quay Portrieux - Monument
Quay would have been founded by a priest on l’anse de Kertugal already
populated since the Bronze Age. An ancient legend mentioned that a monk
would have arrived in a stone boat and was reanimated by a miraculous
source. It was lately proved, (even if it is difficult to believe),
that stone boats can float, a scientific fact that will make credible
many Breton legends. The economy of the city is dedicated to its port
which reached a thousand units between pleasure boats and |

vessels. The city’s main product remains the Saint Jacques shell. It is
not for nothing that it is the capital of the Saint Jacques shell. Many
monuments and excursions are available if you have time before boarding
towards Bréhat Island. Take note that the city is crossed by the Gr 34.
Lastly, the bathe aficionados will indeed enjoy being on one of the
