Cast developed starting from the end of the 19th century. The main
characteristic of St Cast remains the fact that it owes its development
to a painter (Marinier) who built several houses on a bought land close
to the sea. The history of Saint Cast is rather peaceful, small and
tranquil borough which was nevertheless the theatre of a significant
episode of the seven year war between the English and the French |

during the 18th century. Indeed, in 1758, The British disembarked in
Saint Briac seeking to conquer Saint Malo by surprise. However, they
had to move back faced by the Breton troops and finally posted in Saint
Cast. The Breton troops advanced by stressing Celtic songs. A listening
Welsh regiment, turned over against the British and pushed them to give
up the idea of invading the Breton coasts. In addition to the beaches,
the strolls by sea, the visitor can visit le château du Guildo “the
Guildo castle” (commune of Créhen) where the clash between the two
brothers of Anne of Brittany took place. Belonging to the regional
council, the visitors can stroll around the ruins. Furthermore, the
port can be prone to visit, especially that place is a starting point
for numerous hiking trails. Moreover, the tourists can practice several
all-age nautical activities in the surrounding beaches. |
