is the Bretton capital of HI-tech industry. Placed in the valley of
Léguer, it is the second city of the “Côtes d’Armor” (Armor’s Coasts).
The capital of Tregor opens its doors to you. |
Lannion - Saint Anne The geographical situation of the site of Lannion interested the Romans (spared from flooding). In its history, the city had to undergo several Breton, French and English assaults. Indeed, a long time under the French domination, when the city stood by Charles de Blois against the Duke of Brittany. The English, allied of the Duke and his armies, tried to gain back the city. Lannion was literally destroyed during the chaos of the League war in the 17th century. But since the 18th |
century, Lannion will recover its tranquillity and prosperity. It becomes the Breton capital of electronics and telecommunications during the Sixties. This situation is confirmed by the presence of the national centre of space meteorology. Very concentrated, the old city keeps its architectural treasures. Several eras characterize the architecture of Lannion. The first is clearly of medieval inspiration. The second, of Renaissance inspiration, is a final attempt to revive this architecture before the ultimate abandonment of wood towards a stone architecture. The church of Brélévenez is one of the most significant religious buildings of Trégor. It evokes the monk knights of Montjoie, order of military and religious Templers. |
