Dinan is a remarkable city with a rich history and offers to the visitors a broad legacy to discover.
Saint
Sauveur Church: From an architectural point of view, this church is
unique of its kind in Brittany. It was built according to the wishes of
a knight on his return from a crusade. Consequently, the church carries
Roman influences as well as Byzantine and Persian arts. It was raised
since 1112 AC. Saint Malo Church: It is built on the site of an ancient
church located outside the city and which was deliberately destroyed in
1487 fearing to be made as a refuge by the assailants. Its rebuilding
started in 1490 and remains unfinished till the present time. This
church, plundered during the revolution, holds poor furniture which is
behind a certain solemnity that reigns inside. It shelters the concerts
of the "estival d’orgues" festival. Jerzual Street: This Street was
built in the 14th century. Ancient artery of the city, it leaves today
place to the charm and calms. It inspired many painters and constitutes
a unique stroll between the wood-sided houses. The castle museum: The
castle and its 3 kilometres length ramparts, are surprisingly well
preserved. Furthermore, the ramparts of Dinan are regarded as the most
imposing and the oldest of Brittany. The 34 meters high fort keeps
dating from 1380, is also very well conserved. The interior is occupied
by the museum which recalls the history of the city and the region.
